What to do with old greeting cards (hint: it's not throw them away)

· letter writing

What do you do with used greeting cards?

It varies vastly per person. Some cherish and store them forever, some throw them away, some recycle them, some display them for a bit before putting them away.

But did you know you could reuse or donate your cards?!

It’s actually pretty simple.

Here's how to repurpose greeting cards 👇🏼

1️⃣ If there's no writing on the back of the front flap of the card, cut that part off and turn it into a postcard! I absolutely adore the cards I receive and think it's awesome that you can gift that joy to someone else.

2️⃣ Donate the same cut off part of the card to St. Jude's Ranch for Children! They help provide teens with life and work skills. They also accept unused cards with or without envelopes. The only thing is that they don't accept Disney, Hallmark, or American Greetings cards due to copyright laws.

3️⃣ The third option is plain and simple. If it's a recyclable card (like Lucky Dog's) and your recycling center accepts paper products, recycle instead of just throwing it away. All cards are not recyclable, and most foiled cards are unable to be recycled at all.

So there you go! I hope this inspires you to reuse, recycle, or donate some of your old cards before throwing them away.
